Meet the Therapists

Whitney Houston, LPC

Licensed Clinical Supervisor & Founder of Phases Virginia

Hey there! I'm Whitney, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over fifteen years of experience with a variety of populations ranging from young children to adults. My therapeutic approach is grounded in an existential model, but I also draw from various other forms of therapy to best support my clients. You can expect me to incorporate strategies and techniques from behavioral therapies like cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), as well as psychodynamic and family systems therapies.

As a trauma-informed provider, I have received specialized training in treating trauma, shame, and anxiety.

I'm passionate about staying up-to-date with the latest research and evidence-based practices and have specific training in understanding and managing ADHD across different phases of life.

My ultimate goal is to provide a safe and empowering space for you to explore, grow, and overcome challenges. Together, we'll work towards helping you make choices that align with your goals and needs, fostering a sense of autonomy and personal fulfillment. I truly believe in creating a judgment-free environment where you can freely express your authentic self, embracing both the highs and lows of your unique path.

I am here to support you in developing self-compassion and accepting the person you are today, despite the obstacles you have faced or are still working through. It's all part of your story, and we'll explore ways to love and appreciate yourself on this transformative path. Additionally, I'm committed to helping you explore your desires, find meaning in your life, and discover the direction you want to pursue for a fulfilling future.

Fun Facts About Whitney

  • I was a former NCAA Division I athlete - go Terps!

  • I have two kids under five and pregnant with my third. It is always a balance to meet my needs and theirs. I try my best to embrace the mess, blow all the bubbles, lay in the grass and look at the clouds.

  • I am an avid gardener. Small plants end up all over my house in the spring. I love watching my kids in the garden, eating berries and sweet peas.

  • I grew up camping, hiking, visiting National Parks and have tried to share my love of the outdoors with my kids. We are lucky to have a backyard at my home and most evenings I can be found on my porch.

Meet the Therapists

Brittany Belscher, LPC

Professional School Counselor K-12

Hey there! I'm Brittany, a Licensed Professional Counselor and Professional School Counselor with a passion for helping people find meaning in life and achieve their goals. With my background in Brief Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Person Centered Therapy, I provide a range of effective therapeutic approaches tailored to meet your needs.

Having worked in both the Public Behavioral Health System and Public School Systems, I understand how to navigate the intersection between education and private practice.

Currently, I'm a School Counselor in Loudoun County and have previously worked in the Fairfax County school system, two of the largest counties in VA.

I'm dedicated to creating comprehensive school counseling programs that address achievement and equity gaps in the community, supporting students in reaching their academic, personal/social, and career goals.

Life can throw us some curveballs, and it's completely normal to feel overwhelmed or stuck at times. That's where therapy comes in. I believe that finding meaning in life is key to navigating the ups and downs. It's easy to get caught up in the negatives and difficulties, but by shifting our perspective and focusing on what we can control, we can add value and meaning to our lives.

I'm here to walk alongside you on this journey of self-discovery and growth. Together, we'll explore the positives, process through challenges, and help you find hope, meaning, and a renewed sense of purpose.

Fun Facts About Brittany

  • I am an avid Buffalo Bills, Carolina Tar Heels, Yankees, Golden Knights fan. I am always down to talk about sports. I think there are some many valuable lessons that can be learned through sports and sports community

  • I have run four half marathons and am always signed up for another!

  • I have been playing the piano since I was 8.  Music is something that allows people to feel emotions, express emotions, connect to emotions, and can bring people together.

  • One of my favorite quotes from sports as a kid was "control the controllables" - there are SO many things in life that we can't control (how others treat us, systemic issues, environment, death, and so much more), but there are aspects of everyday life that each of us can control.
